Accepted Student FAQs

Questions?

Here are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions from accepted students.

I am an international student that requires a visa to travel to the US. What should I do?

If you do not currently have a visa to travel to the US and you are not eligible to receive a visa through ESTA, you will need to apply for a B-2 visa to participate in the program. Please check the wait times for a visa interview at your nearest US consulate before enrolling in Sustainable Summer. Once you have enrolled, contact us for a visa support letter which you can bring to your visa interview.

Where can I find detailed information on arrival and departure?

This information is provided to enrolled families in your MySummer account. Here are a couple of things to keep in mind if you need additional information now. Students should plan to arrive on the first date of the program, which is a Sunday. Generally speaking, afternoon is the preferred arrival time although any student that needs to arrive earlier in the day is able to do so. If arrival by late afternoon is not possible, arriving a day early (Saturday) is an option, although there are additional fees involved. Students should plan to depart in the morning of the last day of programming, which is a Friday. More information on arrival and departure is included in the enrollment form parents complete, but you can certainly contact us with any questions on this topic.

Where can I find additional information about the program before I enroll?

We suggest reviewing the “What You’ll Be Doing” section of program page on our website, which contains an overview of the program modules and includes a link to our detailed program guide. We also post student perspectives on our blog and Instagram. If you need assistance finding any of this information just let us know.

I’m not sure which specific program I can attend right now. Should I still enroll?

We are usually able to accommodate requests to change to a different session, but that depends on the time of year and remaining availability in the program. Please contact us to review your options.

I’m not sure if I qualify for a “scholarship”?

Please see this section of our website for detailed information on questions related to financial aid.
